Overview

Architect and lead on an internal travel request and approval product that replaced email-and-spreadsheet workflows with a guided wizard, real-time messaging, and analytics.

Challenge

  1. Replace ad-hoc email and spreadsheet travel approvals with a single guided product.
  2. Give requesters, managers, and admins real-time status and conversation in one place.
  3. Surface organisation-wide travel spend and analytics for decision-makers.

Approach

  1. Designed and built SignalR real-time messaging: the hub, group taxonomy, typing indicators, and read receipts.
  2. Built the multi-step request wizard with cost validation, plus the analytics and reporting dashboard.
  3. Set up email-template infrastructure, HR calendar integration, and the Azure DevOps / Aspire pipeline.

Outcomes

  1. Authored the architecture guidance and led the full-stack build.
  2. Delivered real-time messaging and analytics the legacy process could not offer.
  3. Shipped on Azure Kubernetes with Key Vault and a CI/CD pipeline.
